Pay: $62,400 – $87,400

Job Overview: 
As a Staff Engineer, you will take on a more responsible role, independently managing structural engineering tasks and providing technical expertise in the design and analysis of complex structures. You will collaborate closely with project teams, mentor newer staff, and contribute to the successful completion of diverse and challenging projects. Key Responsibilities: 

Essential Duties:

  •  Provide professional design services and engineering support in response to department needs
  •  Assist in the development of design plans and supporting materials, including preparation of H&H reports,
  • waterway permits, and TS&L submissions
  • Lead the design and analysis of various structural systems, ensuring compliance with relevant codes,
  • regulations, and industry standards
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to newer staff, assisting in their professional development and growth
  • Create and review detailed engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications for projects
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing structures, identify potential issues, and recommend appropriate remedial measures
  • Maintain billability percentage set by supervisor/leadership
  • Weekly timesheet completion (with appropriate notes/codes)
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations, explaining technical concepts in a clear and concise manner
  • Manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to project schedules and budgets
  • Support internal departments with structures design services required to execute projects
  • Contribute to the overall success of company by supporting internal departments, providing exemplary service to clients, and striving to meet on-going initiatives to grow and develop the company

Non-Essential Duties:

  • Assist with design work for other departments
  • Participate in professional engineering society conferences
  • Contribute and serve on an engineering committee and/or subcommittee
  • Participate in research and development opportunities and projects
  • Advise management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, client relations, and/or inter-departmental relations

System or Specialized Knowledge:

To perform this job successfully, an individual might have knowledge of:

  • PennDOT – Programs/Systems, Design Manuals, and Publications
  • WVDOH and ODOT – Standards, Manuals, Design Directives, and Publications (optional)
  • MicroStation (preferred, not required) and AutoCAD (optional)
  • Deltek Ajera
  • Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Computers, Printers, and Electronics

Requirements:
 

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the engineering field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • BA or BS Degree required in Civil Engineering or a related discipline 
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in PA (WV, OH, and/or MD are a plus) or the ability to obtain it within six months is required
