Duration: 4-6 Months Engagement
Pay: $200-$250/hour (overall compsentation)
Location: Near St. Louis, Missouri, Major Academic Medical Center

Position Overview: As a Nursing Consultant specializing in Healthcare Efficiency and Nursing Practice, you will play a critical role in optimizing clinical operations and controlling costs within our inpatient and operating room areas. Collaborating closely with nursing leadership, interdisciplinary teams, and finance professionals, you will assess current practices, review staffing models, analyze clinical and financial data, and develop targeted strategies to enhance labor management and streamline supply expenses while maintaining high-quality patient care.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of nursing workflows, staffing models, and patient care processes within the inpatient and operating room areas to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings.

  • Analyze clinical and financial data related to labor costs, supply expenses, and operational inefficiencies to develop evidence-based strategies and best practices for optimizing resource utilization and controlling expenses.

  • Collaborate with nursing leadership, unit managers, and supply chain management to evaluate staffing patterns, scheduling practices, and supply utilization, and implement initiatives to enhance labor productivity and reduce supply costs.

  • Provide mentorship, education, and training to nursing staff on efficiency improvement methodologies, workflow optimization techniques, and best practices for managing labor and supply expenses while maintaining high standards of patient care.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary committees, quality improvement initiatives, and strategic planning projects aimed at enhancing clinical operations, improving patient outcomes, and achieving financial performance goals within the healthcare organization.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance metrics related to nursing efficiency and expense management, and provide regular reports and updates to stakeholders on progress towards established targets.

  • Collaborate with finance professionals to develop and monitor budgets, forecast expenses, and track financial performance within the inpatient and operating room areas, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in Nursing or related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in inpatient and operating room nursing, with a focus on leadership, efficiency improvement, and expense management.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret clinical and financial data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights to drive performance improvement.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management, process improvement methodologies, and change management principles.

  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, reimbursement methodologies, and industry trends related to nursing practice, labor management, and supply chain management.
