Summary:
• Manage the logistics and freight budgets of Primetals’ Projects.
• Create international and domestic shipments for mechanical and electrical equipment/parts from vendors’ locations to manufacturing shops and customer locations.
• Track and follow up on shipping status of Primetals’ orders with vendors/suppliers.
• Create shipping quote requisitions for ocean freight, airfreight, and inland freight.
• Performs freight quotes’ competitive analysis.
• Collaborate and coordinate shipments with freight forwarding companies and freight brokers.
• Coordinate import and export customs clearances with customs brokers.
• Create shipping documents (e.g., packing list, invoice, bills of lading, etc.) for import and export shipments.
• Obtain HTS Code (Harmonized Tariff Schedule Number) and Country of Origin information from vendors/suppliers.
• Input and maintain shipment and tracking information in the LMS system (e.g., Logistics Management System).
• Work with vendors to resolve material discrepancies related to quantity ordered vs quantity shipped.
• Keep track of material inventory.
• Interfaces with all departments (e.g., procurement, purchasing, sales, project management, etc.) and resolves problems and issues related with purchased items.
• Obtain and provide material certificates as needed per shipment (e.g., wood certificates, certificate of origin, quality certificate, etc.)
• Handle and support all shipping related claims.
• Maintain record of shipping documents.
• Receive, verify, and approve logistics service providers’ shipping and customs duty invoices (e.g., freight forwarders, customs broker, freight brokers, etc.).
• Monitor shipments from order entry through delivery to ensure on time delivery.
• Reviews bid proposals for equipment shipping cost, incoterms and negotiate within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
 

Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge
• Seven plus years of experience in international logistics (e.g., import/export of ocean freight and airfreight).
• Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
• Experience with Logistics and ERP Systems (preferred but not required).
• Ability to handle multiple shipments and projects at the same time.
• Communicate professionally with customers, suppliers, project managers, and engineers.
• Associate Degree or higher.
