Pay: Salary, $120k – $130k
Location: Pittsburgh, PA (50% travel required)
Our client is a national general contractor that specializes in new construction, renovations and build outs of a wide array of commercial locations. They are currently seeking a well-qualified Director of Construction to join their growing team!
Job Summary:
The Director of Construction is the manager for the entire Project Management team. This person will be the primary lead for all key client projects. Coordination and completion of projects on time, within budget and within scope. Oversee all aspects of every project, set deadlines, and monitor and summarize the progress of any ongoing projects.
Essential Functions:
- Lead and review all construction projects with the Executive management team
- Work with the Vice President of Construction to organize and manage the Project Management department
- Periodic check-ins with onsite superintendents
- Meet with clients to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project
- Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short-term and long-term goals
- Lead weekly meetings for any ongoing and future projects
- Create and run any necessary Project Management training
- Establish and maintain relationships with sub-contractors and third-party vendors
- Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
- Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis
- Work with Executive management to assign projects to any Project Management team member
- Primary contact for any project questions and/or issues
- Create and execute annual performance reviews
- Measure performance using appropriate project management tools and techniques
- Other duties as assigned
Competencies:
- Ability to read and understand project plans and specifications
- Proven working experience in project management
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
- Ability to address any unforeseen problems quickly and professionally
- Astute understanding of construction regulations
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Management or appropriate field
- 3-5 years' experience in a project management or similar role
- Experience in using Timberline Software, Procore and all Microsoft Office products
Working Conditions:
- Ability to travel 50% or more of the time is required
- This position would require onsite office work when not travelling in their Pittsburgh office. No hybrid available.
